BETWEEN
A fruit of a syncretic thinking over the artist’s childhood and their personal perception. The video comprises a set of frames which are inextricably linked with the perception of reality, resulting from the relationship of nature and psyche of the people who live in rural areas and are thus heavily dependent upon it. In Sacin (a village in the Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland) everything is intentional, nothing happens without a cause and is perceived on the basis of images and their cyclical nature. The work acts as a visual immersion in the past memories, interpenetrating the present.
Izabela Sitarska (PL), born 1992 in Sacin. She currently studies Intermedia at the Faculty of Multimedia Communication at the University of Arts in Poznan. In her works, she deals with the possibilities of human psyche, its defects and impact on the environment, as well as absurd and syncretism of thinking. She experiments with form, often using video, performance, sound, text, collage and animation. Her works were shown during Arts and Science Festival in Poznan (“Augusta D.”, 2014), Audiosphere Studio at the University of Arts in Poznan (“Optical Art Phenomenon”, 2013), Museum of Environmental Knowledge in Poznan (“Pokot Mikot lub ciche pędzenie”) and during Pack Design Fair in Milan (2012).
