Minimal Vandlism

Exquisite. The artistry in video editing, and the craftsmanship of the skateboarder. The raw interior of the Generali Foundation in Vienna becomes a setting for a perfect performer, who challenges the objects in doing extremely attractive tricks.

Every movement, every interference in the set elements, scratches of the surface – tease – we are, yet, not used to touch the gallery objects. For sensitive visitors such a view (including the sound) can be just as irritating as fingernails scratching the school board. But, paradoxically, the whole gives the impression of a refined expression towards the viewer: vandalism takes on a new meaning, a combination of the phenomena in one video work gives the impression of a higher aesthetic beauty.
