Art Mediators’ Comments: Alessandro Fonte, Unisono
A refined video featuring a man playing monotonously the violin when turning with his back to the audience. One gets an impression he plays solo until the “unison” vacuum cleaners show up in sight as accompanying instruments.
It takes place in an old, battered and abandoned building, whose floor is covered with a thick layer of dust. “Unisono” serves as a metaphor for the violinist being suspended between his effort and the efficiency of the long-term performance device. The possibilities of technology today rub the tracks and memory of the physical work and the whole realm of physicality away. Dust becomes a symbolic testimony of oblivion.
